Ab exercises are they the best way to get a six pack?

The Dragon Flag

What you need to know for the perfect six pack.

What ab exercises should you do if you want the perfect six pack, abs that look like they were carved from stone, solid muscle, the look everybody associates with being supremely fit and healthy and how important is your diet?

The six pack look is without doubt the number one priority of most people who workout today. Yes they want a powerful chest and huge biceps, a back so broad it blocks out the sun, but most of all they want a six pack.

The question is how do we get it and what abdomianal exercise is the best?

Option one

You buy one of those expensive machines you see advertised on the TV, you know the ones I mean, they promise to give the perfect abdominal workout and are so effective that only 5 minutes a day will give you abs of steel. They even have perfect specimens of men and women posing with the machines just to add to the sales pitch. Do they work? unfortunately as Jim royal would say my a???.

Do not waste your money because it is not going to happen for you. If it were that easy we would all be walking round like we had just left our mornings practice at the Olympic village for a bit of sight seeing.

what about the latest ab exercises? Surely they work?

Well if the latest ab exercises did what they said on the tin, then we could all spend 5 minutes a day doing a few sets and have the perfect look. Also if they are so effective why do they change every 6 months to the even better ab exercises?

The fact is you can do 500 crunches, sit-ups or any other ab exercise and you still wont get the perfect six pack you are looking for.

The reason is because it is all about burning fat, we all have six packs it is just that we can not see them because of the layer of fat that they are covered in.

So for six pack perfection, removal of fat is what is required not the latest ab exercises.

That is not to say ab exercises do not have some benefit because they do, but they alone will not give you the six pack you want.

In fact ab exercises are one of the most inefficient exercises there is to burn fat because you are lying down when you are doing them which is not the most efficient way to burn energy. For the latest information on ab exercises check out www.ab-core-and-stomach-exercises.com

What about cardio that has got to work right? Well it helps but once again, do 30 minutes running and you will burn about 400 calories and there are 3000 calories to each pound of fat. That means you have got to run every day for a week to lose 1 pound and that is only if you do not eat the mars bar you wanted because the run has made you so hungry.

So what’s the answer?

There are only 2 ways you can have the perfect six pack.

Option one

You are a lucky B?????? Who has the perfect genetics for abdominal definition. Yes there people out there, normally young men, who have great six packs without ever exercising and eating what ever they want. The good news is they are very few and far between and the government is initiating a pregnancy prevention campaign to eventually eradicate them.

The second option is

If you are serious about wanting a six pack you have to make a complete life change to do it.

Why?

Because it is not natural for us to have a body fat percentage low enough to have such great abdominal definition.

To be able to see your six pack you need a body fat percentage of about 14% for women and 10% for men. The fact is in todays modern world of sedentary jobs, processed food and large quantities of it. Six packs are not what you would normally expect. Maybe long ago when we worked many hours in the fields for our food we looked like Greek gods but not any more. Not even with the latest ab exercises.

So it is up to you, if decide to go for it and get your desired six pack. Here are some tips to which might help you.

First seek psychiatric help to see if you really are sane.

Second tip

Diet

The number one key to gaining a six pack is your diet. When I say diet I am not taking about a traditional eat loads of salad diet. I mean the modern way to lose fat, which is to eat 5 small meals a day, each containing some form of protein.

There are many good diet recipes on the web so it is not hard to work out a good diet plan, just make sure each meal contains some form of protein such as fish, chicken ,turkey or low fat cheese or whatever protein you like. If you would like some specific recipes to you get you started, check out www.healthy-eating-simplified.com This site includes tasty 30 minute meals, free two week meal planners, and quick tips that will help you eat well every day.

Eat every 3 hours, this keeps your metabolism high and therefore burns more fat, it also stops you going into starvation mode which is when your body thinks a famine is on the horizon and starts storing fat for energy

Never eat just one or two meals a day or you will go into the starvation mode mentioned above.

Exercise at least 3 but preferably 4 times a week. Include your bodyweight exercises to build muscle and some ab exercises. The reason you want to spend time building muscle as well as doing cardio is your metabolism stays higher for a lot longer after you have finished training if you do muscle building exercises.

So build muscle and even when you are doing nothing you will burn energy which means burning more fat. It also takes a lot of energy to maintain muscle so the more muscle you have the more energy your body will burn.

Do not spend hour upon hour doing abs exercises, it is a total waist of time. You should do some good ab exercises to build strong core muscles but keep it to 10 minutes maxim.

You cannot spot reduce fat so you can not get rid of the fat on your belly whilst the rest of your body remains the same.

You have to reduce the fat levels for the whole of your body to get good definition. Another reason not to do lots of ab exercises to spot reduce your belly fat, it will not work.

Remember the longer you have been overweight the longer you should allow yourself to lose it.

Never starve yourself to lose weight or you will be back to the old famine, body storing fat thing we mentioned earlier.

Keep a journal and write down what you eat and when you eat it and also weigh yourself every week. This way you should know what is happening and what changes you might need to make.

Do not compare yourself or your progress to other people.

We are all different and you could lose half the weight your friend has but actually taking into account genetics you might have worked out a better system than them.

Do not try to lose more than 1 or a maximum of 2lb per week because your body needs time to adjust and remember the dreaded loose skin.

Change your ab exercises regularly. In fact change your whole routine regularly. It keeps your training more interesting and also makes your body work harder because it is working differently.

Never eat at least 2 hours before bedtime as carbohydrates have about 2 hours to be used up as energy before they are stored as fat.

Drink plenty of water, if it is cold even better because the body uses energy to keep warm.
